Children at the school summer day camp take part in a traditional halushky workshop

This week, children attending the school summer day camp, from grades 1 to 4, participated in a hands-on workshop where they learned how to prepare halushky, one of Ukraine’s most cherished traditional dishes.

For children growing up during the war, opportunities to take part in creative and meaningful activities provide much-needed relief from the stress and anxiety of daily life. Preparing food together encouraged teamwork, creativity, and conversation while offering the children a safe and welcoming environment where they could simply enjoy being children.

The workshop concluded with everyone sharing the meal they had prepared together, creating a moment of warmth, accomplishment, and community. Experiences like these help restore a sense of normalcy, strengthen friendships, and support children’s emotional well-being during this difficult time.

We are deeply grateful to our donors and supporters whose generosity makes activities like this possible. Your continued support allows LIFEUA to provide children affected by the war with opportunities to learn, create, and enjoy moments of happiness, hope, and stability despite the challenges they face every day.
